Build a Meaningful Network in a Digital World

You know building a good network is a key to success in business, but doing this in the world of technology we live in can be confusing. When we teach networking to the business consultants who come to We Love Sales training workshops, we cover both in-person and online networking options so that they can mix the best of both worlds and leverage the advantages of each.

Start by being thoughtful about your networking approach. Decide who or what kinds of individuals you would want to add to your contact list, and then start looking for ways to reach those specific people. Think about those who would be able to help you reach your goals or who can open doors for you. Then, consider how you can hang out with them or reach out to them and become involved on their digital channels. We Love Sales has a growing online community of followers on social media and we reach into that community regularly for various reasons.

Another important aspect of networking is to give help first. In a digital sense, this could mean sharing advice or resources with the group, being an active participant in online discussions, or helping connect two people in your network who need to meet. Just as you’d want to provide value when talking to someone in person, you want to do so in a digital setting as well.
